Pest Control

The problem

Steve had been invited to audit a plush central London hotel. It became clear that there were continuing issues with rodent sightings, not just “downstairs” but also (more worryingly) “upstairs”.

The Hotel had been pushed by their renowned Pest Control contractor to invest heavily on sonic pest deterrents. These are an expensive but generally inefficient deterrent. In common with us all, a mouse’s desire for a warm bed and a decent meal outweighs the irritation of a bit of noise. The Hotel management were at their wits end to resolve the issue before it began to affect their reputation (social media rules!)

The solution

Steve managed to persuade the Hotel management to trial a recommended smaller family-run Pest Control company. Steve assisted the new company in devising a plan to eradicate the issue. They initiated a proofing survey to identify all access and egress points throughout the hotel in tandem with a 5-night glue-board eradication. They installed a series of snap-traps across suspected harbourage points throughout the hotel and intensified detection baiting throughout.

The outcome

Within seven days, they had caught just under 300 mice. All identified proofing works were completed over the next two weeks. Within four weeks it was confirmed the hotel was clear of rodent activity and visits were reduced to twice a month. The new company replaced the large renowned company, the Hotel saved a considerable sum.
